A team of experts from the Central Silk Board is to be sent to Manipur in January 2002 to tie up loose ends of the Japanese funded sericulture project.
This was disclosed by a team of officers of the ministry of textiles, government of India comprising PJ Domen, IAS, member secretary, Central Silk Board and Margaret Srivastava, under secretary, department of economic affairs, Ministry of Finance, government of India which visited Manipur on December 10 and 11.During their stay, they attended the State Advisory Board and Project Monitoring and Evaluation Committee meetings of the Manipur Sericulture Project.
They visited project sites at Sangaithel and Langol and made various suggestions to streamline the project works.
The CSB has also agreed to train another batch of 40 trainers so that they can train the beneficiaries to make the project a success.
The CSB has also offered assistance under Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
One of them, CDP (Catalytic Development Programme) is for opening more reeling units so that when the Sericulture Project comes to full swing, the reeling units will be operational.
All the members of the team offered unstained support to the Manipur Sericulture Project, official sources said.
